Street Maintenance and Paving

For the 2021 Fiscal Year the city budgeted $1,200,000 for paving. Approximately 50 miles of streets have been paved between 2016 -2020.  An effective paving program will pave 15 miles of streets each year with a total expenditure of $1,200,000. In coming years, the paving budget will be increased $100,000 per year to meet the paving demand for the city. To view the current paving list, click the links below.

FAQ:Why did my street not get paved?

Streets are graded by city engineering staff on a yearly basis. Street paving is completed based on the street ratings and not particular location in a Ward. Roads with the lowest rating are given priority over higher graded streets. This approach maximizes paving dollars to address the most critical streets each year.

Note: Once construction at the schools along Arrow Drive is complete in 2020, the street will be paved as funding is available. Construction traffic damages streets and subsurface stability.

Public Works crews maintain drainage ways located within the City easements. This maintenance includes repairing sinkholes over drainpipes and along lined ditches, cleaning and preventative maintenance. A certified, bonded contractor conducts herbicide applications for certain improved ditches three (3) times per growing season.
