In conjunction with the Mississippi National Guard, Clinton, Mississippi has a Sister Cities International partnership with Zarafshan, Uzbekistan.

In addition, the partnership is part of a larger coordinated effort with the Mississippi Development Authority to foster global trade with Uzbekistan.

In May, Mayor Phil Fisher visited Zarafshan, Uzbekistan as part of a trade mission sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority. During the trip, Mayor Fisher signed a Sister City partnership agreement with leaders of Zarafshan.
A representative delegation from Zarafshan, Uzbekistan will make a return visit to Clinton on October 23-24, 2019 to learn more about the educational, business, agricultural, manufacturing and cultural opportunities that can open new doors for economic development between the two cities.
During their visit, delegates from Zarafshan will visit the Clinton Schools and visit local businesses. Our guests will also visit with leaders at four local manufacturers and Mississippi College in efforts to open dialogue regarding trade and educational trade opportunities.
“I believe our partnership with Zarafshan, Uzbekistan is an important step in expanding the City of Clinton’s economic opportunities globally, while also opening doors for cultural and educational awareness locally. I invite all residents to learn more about this important partnership,” stated Mayor Phil Fisher.
